Stand Against Racism!
1,800 community members participated in programs offered by YWCA Delaware and their partners to raise awareness and end bigotry
95% of the participants reported a greater understanding of their own attitudes about race and how those beliefs affect their behavior
95% of the participants reported improved relationships with those with differing views or backgrounds at school or in the community
YWCA Delaware operates Dialogue To Action, the largest inter-racial dialogue program in the country, having touched over 10,000 individuals in our communities throughout the state, bringing them together to develop solutions for some of our most pressing local challenges.
Understanding the Nature of Racism. Our Racial Justice program serves the continuing demand from companies, communities and schools for programs addressing racial diversity and race relations. Promoting tolerance and understanding, we cultivate skills in individuals geared toward advocating for racial justice, and taking action toward eliminating racism. We foster an environment where program participants engage in open discussions that highlight and address racial issues and inequities.
Taking Action. Real community impact occurs when racial justice ideals and actions are incorporated into daily relationships and activities. We encourage participants to become proactive in eliminating racist practices, engage in civic affairs by volunteering time and advocating on policy issues at a community and institutional level.
"Dialogue to Action can be transformative! They are an important gateway to experiencing the unity of humanity through honest dialogue and lasting friendships."
