Life-Changing Partnerships

Your time, talent and contributions ensure that YWCA Delaware is a place where women can find information, build skills and knowledge, realize hopes and dreams and gain confidence to attain success.

A team of JPMorgan Chase employees gave the common space at YWCA's Single Women's Residence an extreme makeover. Donations from generous Delaware JPMorgan Chase employees included furniture, paint, rugs, book shelves, decorations and new PCs and monitors. Thanks to their effort, teamwork and generosity the outcome was a huge success and the residents love their new space!

For the past five years, one of our extraordinary volunteers has been working with the children at Home-Life. Once a week, Wendy Schickler (pictured, bottom photo, third from left) provides craft projects and snacks to the kids while their parents attend educational workshops. She also builds relationships. She provides a caring environment for the children so they feel grounded during time of crisis and transition. She listens and helps them to feel comfortable and loved. Her biggest surprise of this experience? It inspired her "to develop a personal faith in the overall goodness of the world and the power of the individual to make a difference. What could be better than that?" she says. "So who is the giver, and who is the receiver? We all melt into one."

YWCA is incredibly grateful to all of the many volunteers who so generously give of their time and resources.
