YWCA Delaware owns and operates Home-Life Management Center (HLMC) to assist homeless families. This safe haven provides the structure and encouragement needed for family members to become self-sufficient. Here they improve employment and housekeeping skills while learning to plan for the needs of their families through positive behavior management.

This was the case for Tommeca, who was a victim of violent abuse and threats on her life. "Initially, I was in such a dark place, but I started to come around and attended counseling and classes to help me re-connect. I participated in custodial and culinary training which lead to me earning a scholarship and eventually a full-time job. At the same time, YWCA also encouraged me to apply for housing. My life has changed so much in such a short period of time."

Now, Tommeca's children are much happier and safer, living in a nice home, playing games, cooking together and enjoying movie nights. "I'm gainfully employed and most importantly, I found peace of mind, happiness and am starting to enjoy life again."
