Small business ownership is a highly important element of a thriving Delaware economy. YWCA has created a nurturing environment to launch new business opportunities, create jobs for financial independence and strengthen our communities – resulting in the creation of 100 new jobs in 2012.

Elena Sullivan (pictured) initially came to YWCA Delaware, Center for Women's Entrepreneurship Program, with the vision of helping cancer patients feel more beautiful. She wanted to start her own permanent cosmetic tattoo business in Georgetown to give cancer patients experiencing permanent loss of hair and breast tissue a renewed sense of confidence and self-esteem.

"When I first came to YWCA, I knew what I wanted, but not how to do it. Their program provided me with the tools and plans to follow. They help me to stay focused on my goals." She is now working full-time as E.S. Cosmetics, LLC with a strong client base already established.

"Every day when I come to my studio, it's like I'm walking into someone else's dream. I start my day thankful that everyone who comes through my doors puts their trust in me."
